While there are many beaches in the Los Cabos area, beaches on the Pacific Ocean have dangerous rip currents and only the beaches on the Sea of Cortez are safe for swimming. There are several nearby Sea of Cortez beaches available. Cabo Bello Beach, pictured on the left, is a short five minute walk away and has a small stand that sells drinks and rents sea kayaks, boogie boards and snorkeling equipment. There is a small area on the right side of the beach that is protected from the waves for snorkeling and has beautiful tropical fish. Medano Beach is the main safe swimming beach in Cabo San Lucas and the most popular. You'll find it easy to rent the water toy of your choice, from high-powered wave runners, to quiet sea kayaks. Access to this beach is available through any of the hotels and restaurants along this long stretch of beach. Lover's Beach, pictured below, is a must see, but to get to this hidden cove you'll need to hire a water taxi at the marina. You will get an informative tour of the diving areas around the arch (El Arco) and Lover's Beach, and will then go around the popular point for a wonderful view of the dramatic area where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. Plan on spending the better part of the day enjoying Lover's Beach and the striking wind and water shaped rock formations; your skipper will come back for you at a pre-determined time...all for one price. For the more adventurous, you can rent a sea kayak at Medano Beach and paddle across to Lover’s Beach.

Cabo San Lucas has long been recognized as one of the top destinations in the world for big game fishing. No other destination in the world can rival it for the number and variety of fish caught year round. Even if you are a novice and don't know anything about fishing, Cabo San Lucas is a great place to start your fishing experience. Known as the "Marlin Capital of the World," there are more marlin caught here than any other place on earth; it is not unusual to capture one or even more on your very first trip, whether you are a beginner or an expert. Not only will you experience the thrill of battling a creature of incredible beauty and size, or landing smaller species and eating them, your fishing excursion gives you an opportunity to view the Cape and its landmarks from a unique perspective and often allows you to get a close up look at whales, dolphins and seals. We highly recommend breakfast and lunch at Lennys, at least one dinner during your week at Latitude 22 (say hi to the owner, Mike, for us) and dinner at Capo San Giovanni for excellant Southern Italian food. Also, while you're in town, look for the Brian Flynn Band at many of the local bars for excellent rock n' roll and blues music.
